Job Description Summary

As part of the ZebraSci Leadership Team, the Site Lead – Combination Product Services (Branchburg, NJ) will oversee all aspects of site operations for combination product development and testing services. This individual plays a critical role in executing the business strategy, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and maintaining a strong technical and customer-facing presence. The Site Lead is accountable for operational excellence, resource management, site-level financials, and a positive customer experience, while also contributing to broader business and product platform strategies.
This role is deeply integrated with ZebraSci’s product platforms, playing a pivotal role in supporting the success of primary and secondary drug delivery devices. In addition to leading site operations, the Site Lead will gather and share insights from customer projects and regulatory interactions to influence the product roadmap and shape our messaging strategy in alignment with evolving customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategic Site Management

  • Directs all site operations including staff management, budgeting, resource allocation, and capacity planning.
  • Drives continuous improvement, efficiency, and compliance with all applicable regulatory and quality standards.
  • Manages site facilities and infrastructure to support growth, new capability introductions, and operational readiness.
  • Serves as primary host for regulatory inspections and customer audits.

2. Customer Engagement and Technical Leadership

  • Serves as a technical expert in combination product development and testing.
  • Acts as the primary customer interface for technical discussions, project execution, site visits, and audits.
  • Advises customers on combination product development strategy and testing protocols, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory and market requirements.
  • Builds lasting relationships with clients through credibility, consultation, and service excellence.

3. Business Growth, Innovation & Market Intelligence

  • Partners with Business Development to drive combination product services growth and integrate market needs into ZebraSci offerings.
  • Leads the site’s technology development team to scout and validate new testing capabilities aligned with emerging industry trends.
  • Captures and shares insights from customer interactions, projects, and audits to influence platform development, product roadmap planning, and messaging strategy.
  • Represents ZebraSci at key industry conferences and scientific meetings.

4. Collaboration Across Product Platforms

  • Aligns with cross-functional teams to ensure synergy between service operations and product development platforms (e.g., autoinjectors, on-body devices, prefilled syringes).
  • Contributes to platform innovation by integrating field insights into design feedback loops, value propositions, and strategic planning for drug delivery solutions.

5. People Leadership and Culture

  • Leads and develops site team members across technical and operational functions.
  • Oversees project staffing, onboarding, performance management, and capability development.
  • Promotes a culture of accountability, quality, safety, and scientific excellence.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or Life Sciences
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of relevant experience in pharma, MedTech, or combination product development
    • 3-5 years of people leadership experience
    • Prior experience in a regulated (cGMP, ISO) environment
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong background in combination product or medical device testing
    • Knowledge of method development, validation, and regulatory compliance
    • Deep understanding of drug-device development, design control, and system integration
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Proven experience in operations leadership
    • Resource planning and budget management capabilities
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preffered Qualifications:

  • Advanced Education: Master's degree (MS) or PhD in Engineering or Life Sciences
    • With MS: 8+ years of relevant experience (instead of 10+)
    • With PhD: 6+ years of relevant experience (instead of 10+)
  • Audit Experience: Experience hosting regulatory and customer audits is "strongly preferred" but not required
  • Strategic Thinking: Track record of driving innovation through operational insight and customer-centric thinking
  • Customer Interface: Strong presence with customers, regulators, and cross-functional peers
