Job Summary:
Responsible for all phases of molding process (injection molding, compression molding, transfer molding) including the operation of molding machines, and auxiliary equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
1.   Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the manufacturing environment to include keeping floors free of debris, cleaning work areas as needed, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping down equipment after use, keeping bathrooms neat and sanitized.
2.   Safely operate injection molding machines, compression molding machines, and auxiliary equipment in accordance with established procedures.   Monitor the functioning of all molding equipment, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain proper performance.   Initiate corrective action when deviations occur.
3.   Follow established safety procedures, and wear required personal protective equipment.   Ensure safe operation of equipment by adherence to safety standards, and prompt reporting of any hazardous situations.
4.   Manage all molds and related components to ensure they are properly maintained and stored.   Perform preventative maintenance on molds, hot runner systems, and other associated tooling as appropriate.   Train others as directed by supervisor.
5.   Perform basic repairs to equipment as directed by supervisor.   Provide feedback to supervisor regarding necessary equipment repairs or modifications.
6.   Apply basic troubleshooting techniques to resolve problems with molding processes, equipment, and tooling.   Interact with technical resources as needed to address complex issues.
7.   Work closely with Quality Control personnel to document quality and productivity data accurately and completely.   Assist in training new employees as directed by supervisor.
8.   Maintain records of molding production, machine downtime, material usage, and other pertinent information.   Use computer software programs to enter data into manufacturing system.
9.   Receive and store raw materials and finished goods in designated areas.   Pack and unpack items as required.
10.   Participate in continuous improvement projects as requested by supervisor.

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge/Experience:

1. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two to three years’ experience in plastics manufacturing preferred.
3. Demonstrates an understanding of fundamental molding principles.

Skills:
1. Basic knowledge of inspection tools and their functions.
2. Ability to read micrometers and other measuring devices.
3. Good communication skills.
4. Ability to follow written instructions.
5. Basic computer skills.
6. Good math skills.
7. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Physical Demands:
1. Standing for long periods of time.
2. Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling of tools and boxes.
3. Able to work in various temperature conditions.

Environmental Conditions:
1. Exposure to noise, vibration, heat, cold, chemicals, greases, lubricants, oils, and electrical energy.
