Job Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and complete investigations of manufacturing process problems, Audit observations and QNs, using scientific and problem-solving methodologies and suggest alternate ways of action to follow to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) based on investigation outcomes. 

  • Investigate and serves as a CAPA owner for Manufacturing and Human Error Investigations and actions owner.

  • Collaborate with Bioprocess team, area leaders and Subject Matter Experts to ensure thorough investigations and timely completion.

  • Document findings, corrective actions, and preventive measures in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.

  • Plan, design, and implement product and process improvements to avoid failures, leveraging Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement tools.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. 

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for identified process weaknesses. 

  • Track and trend manufacturing related failures and implement improvements holistically.

  • Lead or support improvement projects, including process/equipment optimization, sustainability initiatives, and energy reduction projects.

  • Keeps management informed of operational problems which may result in improvement project delays and suggests alternate ways of action to follow to prevent recurrence.

  • Facilitate teams, manage projects, and provide status updates on improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure all investigations and improvements comply with GMP, OSHA, and company policies.

  • Support documentation change management and maintain accurate records of investigations and improvement activities.

  • Interface with other departments and plants to share best practices and support company-wide improvement needs.

  • Transfer knowledge to operators and associates to ensure successful implementation of improvements to avoid nonconformance.

  • Actively support Operational Excellence efforts by leading and/or participating in blitzes, value stream maps and projects as required.

  • Promote a safe work environment, identify hazards, and initiate corrective actions.

  • Participate in Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) programs.

  • Perform technical investigations, support validation protocols, and assist with facilities/utilities projects as needed.

  • Carry out any other related duties assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

  • A minimum of 3 months’ experience working in a manufacturing environment. Experience working in a regulated environment is preferable.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Effective skills on analytical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal relationships, written and oral communication, and planning/organization skills

  • Experience in root cause analysis and CAPA is preferable.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of biotechnology manufacturing, GMP requirements are preferable.

  • Capable of independent work; self-starter, highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); MS Project is a plus.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written, read, and oral).

  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, highly motivated, and able to manage stressful situations.
