As a key leader within the local finance organization, the Senior Manager, FP&A provides strategic oversight for BD Canada’s planning and reporting functions, while leading and developing a high-performing FP&A team. This role is pivotal in driving financial and strategic planning, delivering actionable business insights, and enhancing operational efficiency to support executive decision-making and long-term growth.

Key responsibilities include preparing accurate and timely financial reports, safeguarding organizational assets, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. The position oversees the maintenance of accounting and financial records—including general ledger, financial statements, and management reports—and conducts in-depth financial and economic analyses. Additional duties include developing and managing financial plans and budgets, interpreting complex financial data, and providing clear, data-driven recommendations to senior leadership. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the largest accruals on the local balance sheet which translates to Revenue adjustments, in addition to providing guidance with regards to Revenue Recognition questions/issues. Error can result in material risk to the P&L. 
  • Revenue Recognition analysis and recommendations in regards to chargeback and rebate accruals
  • Application of policies such as E&O and PPV which impact profitability;
  • Makes recommendations to changes to allocation modelling which impact BU management reporting and participates in decision making process.
  • Influence, guide business activities, and decisions making across all business unit functions.
  • Interacts with VP Finance of BU’s, Canadian Leadership Team. Corporate FP&A VP looks to this role as subject matter expert on processes that impact OUS (i.e. FX, WAC, Costing)
  • Responsible for leading and developing a team of Finance Business Managers and their supporting Financial Analysts fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop the business partnering skills of the team so that they can offer financial insights to drive operational improvements and profitable growth
  • Lead team through BD submission timelines and reporting deliverables during month end, ASR, annual budget and quarterly forecast processes to align financial resources with company objectives
  • Provides monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of financial results with insightful analysis to BD Canada and NA Leadership Team, including tracking performance/progress on metrics
  • Identify and lead projects to drive incremental value for Region, simplify internal process and reduce manual activities/reports.
  • Develop and prepare templates and consolidate information required to drive proper business discussions during BD Canada annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting and Annual Strategic Review processes in response to changing business requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders as part of forecasting, annual plan and expense reporting and budgets to drive alignment across the organization
  • Develop working relationships with key BD team members at the NASSC, Corporate Accounting, other Corporate Functions and Information Systems
  • Leading or providing guidance to regional FP&A team through corporate initiated projection, as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, with a CPA designation required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years progressive experience in FP&A in a complex, multi-national and matrixed organization, including a minimum of 3+ years of people management experience, with responsibility for guiding team performance and development.
  • Proven ability to lead strategic planning cycles and oversee complex budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Advanced expertise in financial modeling and analytical methodologies to support data‑driven decision‑making.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional analytical capability: Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data, synthesize key trends, and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Advanced financial systems proficiency: Hands‑on experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, JDE, and BPC, complemented by advanced Excel expertise and strong technical acumen.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills: Deliver clear, compelling financial presentations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams with confidence and poise, effectively translating complex financial data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations
  • Proven leadership and team‑building experience: Track record of leading, developing, and empowering high‑performing teams, including
  • Strong problem‑solving orientation: Ability to anticipate issues, diagnose root causes, and implement effective, sustainable solutions.
    Business and industry acumen: Solid understanding of market dynamics, competitive forces, and economic trends that influence business performance.
  • Meticulous attention to detail: Commitment to accuracy, completeness, and integrity in financial reporting, modeling, and analysis.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: Proven ability to partner effectively with teams across the organization—up to and including senior leadership—to influence decisions, drive alignment, and support enterprise‑wide initiatives.

Our salary or hourly rate rangesrewardassociates fairly and competitively. We regularly review these ranges and factors, such as location, contributeto the range displayed.

Our pay is based on the role and the necessary skills and education to perform it successfully. The salary or hourly rate offered isdeterminedby therole'sspecific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the worklocationwhich may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role.

Salary Range Information: $128,000 - $178,000 CADAnnual.
