The Vice President (VP) of Commercial for the Biosciences Business Unit is a strategic global leadership role responsible for advancing commercial capabilities for the business by driving best practice, process alignment, commercial excellence and best-in-class sales execution across all regions. Reporting directly to the BU President, this individual will serve as the key architect and champion of robust commercial processes—including sales, forecasting, operating models, and commercial enablement. The VP of Commercial will collaborate closely with regional leadership teams to optimize performance and ensure consistent execution of commercial strategies, without direct management responsibilities. This role is a member of the Biosciences leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain appropriate processes to facilitate the regional commercial leaders in defining and delivering business strategies that ensure our ability to maintain growth and profitability objectives in alignment with the BU and Platform strategies.
Drive Commercial Best Practices: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of best-in-class commercial processes across the global Biosciences, ensuring consistency and scalability.
Drive global sales enablement: equipping our teams with modern selling techniques, best-in-class compensation plan design, leadership development programs, competitive intelligence and gamified learning tools that foster competitive agility.
Drive best in class Sales Effectiveness: Leads the continuous evolution of sales effectiveness initiatives and tools (e.g. funnel management/win room, SFDC) to improve velocity and win rates; harmonize sales methodologies, tools, and procedures across all regions to enable a unified approach to customer engagement and sales execution.
Forecasting Excellence: Establish and maintain rigorous forecasting processes and standards to support accurate, data-driven business planning and decision-making.
Operating Model Optimization: Design and refine the BU’s commercial operating model to enhance operational rigor, efficiency, agility, and alignment with organizational goals.
Champion data and analytics excellence: Defining and executing on a global commercial data strategy, delivering predictive insights, real-time KPIs, and integrated dashboards that empower decision-making and unlock growth opportunities.
Performance Management: Monitor commercial performance metrics including leading and lagging indicators across regions, identify areas for improvement, and drive initiatives that enhance overall commercial effectiveness.
Commercial Enablement: Partner with regional teams to develop and deploy effective commercial enablement initiatives, ensuring teams are equipped with the tools, training, and resources to succeed. Ensure focus on our most important strategic commercial initiatives through cross-functional collaboration between sales and marketing.
Cross-Regional Collaboration: Act as the primary commercial liaison between the BU and regional teams, promoting knowledge sharing, alignment, and the adoption of global standards.
Change Leadership: Champion change management efforts related to commercial processes, ensuring buy-in and smooth adoption throughout the organization.
Strategic Projects: Lead or support BU-wide commercial projects and initiatives as directed by the BU President.

Reports to: WW President, Biosciences
Works closely with: Regional Commercial Leaders, Sales Operations, Commercial Enablement, Business Analytics, and other cross-functional teams
Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to drive commercial goals
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred
Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in commercial roles within the biosciences, life sciences, or related industries
Demonstrated track record of driving commercial process alignment and excellence in a global, matrixed environment
Strong expertise in sales process development, forecasting, operating models, and commercial enablement
Exceptional influencing, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills
Change management experience and the ability to drive adoption across diverse teams
Outstanding analytical and strategic thinking abilities
Willingness to travel globally as required
Location: Milpitas or San Diego is preferred, remote is acceptable
Up to 50% travel globally is required
