This 6-month contract Finance Business Manager acts as a strategic finance partner to the Advanced Patient Monitoring (APM) business unit and to non‑business functions across the Canada region, providing comprehensive financial leadership and decision support. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and relevance of all key financial information that underpins business planning, performance management, strategic initiatives, and executive decision‑making.

Working closely with business and functional leaders, the Finance Business Manager delivers forward‑looking financial analysis to identify market growth opportunities, evaluate risks, and address operational or financial challenges. Through strong analytical rigor and deep business acumen, this role enables data‑driven decisions that support sustainable growth and long‑term profitability.

Both the Canadian and U.S. leadership teams rely on the Finance Business Manager as a trusted advisor—valuing the accuracy, insight, and transparency reflected in financial reporting, analysis, and strategic recommendations.

Job Responsibilities:

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budget, 3 year strategic plan and quarterly forecasts for the business unit.
  • Work with functional leaders to gather underlying assumptions for budget/forecast/ASR. Ensure proper assumptions such as volume growth, one time projects, depreciations, inflation, etc. are built into planning submissions.  Help identify potential risks and opportunities and perform ongoing tracking.
  • Strong understanding of events impacting individual P&L line items and the intrecitage relationship between movements of P&L line items.
  • Provide support to functional units in developing growth strategies and in achieving key financial and business objectives.  Play an integral part in assessing potential risks and opportuntiies to financial goals and identifying action plans to address gaps.

Actual reporting

  • Own and lead monthly income statement analysis as a core component of the month‑end close process, partnering closely with Finance Analysis, NASSC, and local accounting teams to ensure accurate and complete expense recognition. Analyze, report, and clearly explain performance variances against Projection, Budget, and Prior Year.
  • Apply strong expertise in revenue, cost, and expense recognition accounting, including complex areas such as capital and operating lease accounting, to ensure compliance, accuracy, and consistency in financial reporting.
  • Drive sales performance monitoring by collaborating with business partners to track and report weekly sales results, proactively identifying risks and opportunities and translating insights into informed monthly and quarterly outlooks.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and perform detailed financial analyses—including price/volume, excess and obsolete inventory, accruals, and product cost—across both actual month‑end close and planning cycles to support financial accuracy and decision‑making.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial results and insights at regional and global leadership forums, delivering clear, actionable narratives to support executive decision‑making.

Other financial responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to cross‑functional Finance initiatives and special projects as required, collaborating closely with Finance peers to share best practices, drive continuous improvement, and incorporate emerging insights.
  • Develop robust financial models and business case analyses to support investment decisions, strategic initiatives, and operational improvements.
  • Evaluate existing accounting policies, financial activities, processes, and systems, identifying opportunities for enhancement and providing well‑reasoned recommendations to Management.
  • Support ad hoc analyses, special assignments, and other responsibilities as required to meet evolving business and organizational needs.

Education and Experience required:

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in Finance, with a focus on Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) in the medical device, pharmaceutical or consumer packaged goods industries, and 2+ years experience supervising a team, including team development, coaching, and performance management.
  • University degree with emphasis in Finance, Business, Commerce, or related field.  
  • CPA designation.
  • Solid accounting policies knowledge, including revenue recognition and capital versus operating lease principles.

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and proficient with Microsoft suite Word, Outloo, etc.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, JDE, and/or BPC.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret both financial and non‑financial data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Proactive self‑starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly self‑motivated and organized, able to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen and a proven track record of driving process improvements.

Our salary or hourly rate rangesrewardassociates fairly and competitively. We regularly review these ranges and factors, such as location, contributeto the range displayed.

Our pay is based on the role and the necessary skills and education to perform it successfully. The salary or hourly rate offered isdeterminedby therole'sspecific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the worklocationwhich may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role.

Salary Range Information: $95,000 - $145,000 CADAnnual.
