JOB SUMMARY  

The Apprentice Junior Mold maker will work under the guidance of experienced Mold makers to set up and operate mold fabricating equipment, read and interpret mold drawings, and perform tasks related to the making, altering, and repairing of molds and components. This position is designed for current students or recent graduates from technical community colleges, providing hands-on experience and training in mold making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

With assistance, guidance, and supervision of a qualified/experienced Mold Maker, the Apprentice Junior Mold Maker:

• Disassemble molds using methods that prevent damage to components and finishes.

• Clean mold plates and components, identifying those requiring repair or replacement.

• Ensure proper gating, venting, and cooling of molds.

• Polish mold component finishes as required.

• Perform routine mold repairs and fabricate mold components using established methods.

• Assist experienced Mold makers with large and complex multi-cavity molds.

• Complete work tasks with minimal supervision after receiving assignments and guidance.

• Observe all safety, environmental procedures, and quality standards.

• Help inspect and maintain hoist equipment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED

Skills:

• No related experience required.    

• Knowledge and skill to update or repair injection molds.    

• Ability to read blueprints or mold drawings.    

• Dexterity to use tools.    

• Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.    

Work Environment:

• BD is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.  We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy

• False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals.  Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor. 

• Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
